Living a right life, or living rightly out of fear of hell or judgment and consequences is real but self-centered by nature. For living such away is purely for one’s own good even if it is just avoidance of pain. This living in fear of doing the wrong thing is full of anxiety because it is rooted in self and fear.
Living a right life, or living rightly out of thanksgiving, (a response of love to having been loved) is more powerful and another centered. This living is living for another by its essence and therefore more God like, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” This living is by nature Joyful in its essence as it seeks joy of another and experiences joy inside.
Paul recommends and the Spirit of God calls us to live out appreciation for the mercy of God, Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
