NEW LIFE GREETERS – SUMMER-2010

Thanks for your willingness to serve as a greeter. Please MARK YOUR CALENDAR with the date you are scheduled to greet. If you are unavailable on your assigned date please contact Sue Anderson.  THANKS!

Responsibilities:

  1. Be ready to greet at 9:30 AM with your nametag on.
  2. Attempt to stand where you can greet people entering through the main entrance AND the “back door” by the kitchen.
  3. Be genuinely friendly, but keep in mind that most visitors want to hide in the crowd. Sense whether they want to meet others or quickly slip into the sanctuary. Most often they will welcome an exchange of words with you. Introduce yourself and ask for visitors’ names (and try to remember names). Encourage everyone to stop at the nametag table.
  4. While your goal is to welcome visitors, remember to warmly welcome everyone. Be careful to avoid chatting with friends while you are greeting.
  5. Encourage people to enter the sanctuary by the BEGINNING of the worship service.
  6. Stay at your post for five minutes after the worship service begins as visitors often arrive late.
  7. Following the service, look for the visitors you greeted. Ask other “New Lifers” to welcome the visitors. Make certain they are not standing alone.

THE GUIDEPOSTS TREASURY OF HOPE

This treasury shares the stories of Paul Harvey, Lawrence Welk, Johnny Cash, Marjorie Holmes, Taylor Caldwell, Catherine Marshall, Jean Stapleton, Kathryn Kuhlman, Sandy Duncan, and over fifty-five other men and women from all walks of life. Each in its own way gives hope that will renew and recharge its readers in time of doubt.

B. J. Hoff has written a trilogy of fiction called THE MOUNTAIN SONG LEGACY.

THE DISTANT MUSIC “In the Kentucky mining community called Skingle Creek, two childhood friends give a gift that may restore the hope of their families and save the life of their beloved teacher.

THE WIND HARP  “In Maggie’s quest for independence, she finds her greatest strength in sacrifice…and in her struggle to heal her family, she finds her heart renewed by love.

THE SONG WEAVER “As Jonathan and Maggie try to make their way through troubling times, they find their love growing and their own roots sinking deeper into the certainity of God’s perfect will.”
